Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek, Lower Saxony state library

It’s a rather special building, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek library in Hanover, with a long history. Over 350 years ago, it began as a book collection of Duke Johann Friedrichs von Braunschweig-Lüneburg. It was he who added books on scholarly and artistic interests to the historical collections of the Welf Dynasty, laying the foundation for today’s library. 

Today, around 360 years later, the GWLB is considered a modern research and state library and dates back to older book collections of the Welf Dynasty, the local rulers of the time. It includes a collection of more than 1.7 million items, including 4,500 current journals, one of the largest liberal arts libraries in northern Germany.

The library is important as it provides free access to academic information for all.

But what does OBO Bettermann have to do with any of that?

As the state library of Lower Saxony, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek offers not only a growing digital service offering, but many other services as well. The library is home to around 80 workstations, 10 study spaces, scanning equipment and more.

Of course, all of these workstations and devices need power – as flexibly as possible. This is where the products from OBO Bettermann come in.

With the  Terrazzo-Schalkörpern  for the direct, jointless installation of height-adjustable cassettes, all workstations benefit from elegant, flexible power supply solutions.

The casing is laid floating onto the underfloor boxes with mounting lids, closing the gaps between underfloor box and cassette frame, thus protecting the interior against the ingress of dirt.

The protective cover made from aluminium sheet is put into the cassette frame as a screed protective cover before the screed work is done and can be polished over with screed or Terrazzo.

The Terrazzo lined bodies enable the seamless installation of cassettes in underfloor accessory sockets in ground screed and Terrazzo floors. In this case, the round cassettes with cord outlet.
